Challenging ...

... that was the word for today, first was the weather which was a mixture of big plopping rain, fine rain and driving horizontal rain; second was the Thames between Rushey Lock and Radcot - we thought yesterday was wiggly - well today was even more demanding ...

... we didn’t quite make this huge right-hand bend which followed a sharp left hand bend - we didn’t quite put the bow into the bank but we did end up under that tree!

And here comes another sharp left-hander! ...

... where we came across this nosey cow!

Geoff is round the bend - again!

Old Man’s Bridge ...

... and Seyella disappearing round yet another bend ...

... to wait for Radcot Lock to be made ready ...

... up through the lock, tanks full of water once more - and we’re off again
A lovely splash of scarlet in all the green

Approaching Radcot where we hope to find a mooring ...

... we’ve passed nearly all the moorings now and reached the footbridge over the original course of the river ...
A young Swallow attempting to dry out at one of the many private mooring sites

We’ve decided not to go any further, so George starts to reverse and Geoff decides to wind (turn round) ...

Off for a walk now with the dogs - this single arch bridge was built to span the artificial cut and built in 1787 and is the bridge that we’ll pass under tomorrow

The 13th century Radcot Old Bridge is the oldest surviving bridge on the River Thames

The view from the single bridge; we’re moored quite a long way round the corner

The third bridge was built in 1863 but it doesn’t look much good for boats!

The Swan Hotel
These strange creatures were wandering about in the pub gardens - no idea what they are!

Taken from the Thames Path

and arriving back at the boats - whoops we’ve gained another canine!
